The Cal State Long Beach Alumni Grants Program awarded more than $14,000 in grants to 10 different departments for the spring '98 semester, a record for the seven-year program.
The awards, ranging from $300 to $2,000, will be used to supply the winning departments with computers, multi-cultural books, a tour-on-tape program and equipment upgrades.
The grants program, which is sponsored by the CSULB Alumni Association, has raised more than $45,000 over the seven-year period.
The goal of the program is to assist CSULB departments and programs with small grants that will benefit students. Qualified departments and organizations must fill out applications with the Alumni Association.
Alumni Associations raises the grant money through school-sponsored events, as well as by entering partnerships with local corporations.
Some of the award winners this semester include Educational Career Services, the Learning Assistance Center, the University Library and the Women's Resource Center. All award recipients were notified in January.
