IRVINE - The San Jose State ice hockey team had a long drive home after Long Beach State destroyed them in a 10-0 victory Saturday night at the Irvine Ice Arena.

The Beach (8-1-1) dominated the Spartans (3-7) from the initial drop of the puck.

Long Beach defenseman Toby Hudson started off the scoring with an unassisted slap shot from the right side of the blue line at 12:32 in the first period.

That was all The Beach needed to begin the scoring onslaught.

Long Beach goalie Eric Weuve faced six shots, as The Beach's defense kept the puck in the Spartan zone.

The Beach peppered the Spartan goaltender with 36 shots on goal, while Ramiz Fargo scored two goals and racked up an assist.

"He's our goal scorer," 49er defenseman Omar Milbis said.

Milbis ended the game with a goal and an assist.

"We are the team to beat," Hudson said.

Hudson scored another unassisted goal in the third period, which made the score 8-0.

"We are the team to beat."
