Women's golf finish season on sour note

The Cal State Long Beach women's golf team finished in fourth place in the five-team Big West Conference Championship Tuesday in Moscow, Idaho.

The Beach beat fifth-place Boise State by seven strokes en route to their team score of 56-over-par 674. Third-place North Texas shot 653 as a team, 21 strokes better than CSULB.

New Mexico State won the tournament thanks to the play of A.J. Eathorne and Sarah Comstock. Eathorne helped her team with a tournament-best score of one-over-par 145 and Sarah Comstock shot a 7-over-par 151 to take 2nd place. New Mexico State shot a 611 overall. Rachael Duncan also finished in the top five for the winning team.

Idaho finished 2nd overall shooting 651 as a team, 40 strokes behind New Mexico State. Elizabeth Carter was the standout player for Idaho shooting a nine-over-par 153.

Danielle Skinner led CSULB with a 20-over-par 164, good enough to land her in 8th place overall. Tori Hughes finished close behind Skinner.
