The Orange County District Attorney filed charges against a Cal State Long Beach employee suspected of stealing over $50,000 of brand new audio equipment from the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

Devin Todd Devore, 28, faces one felony count of receiving stolen property and a minimum sentence of one year in state prison. The former PAC sound technician allegedly sold $8,700 worth of equipment to Guitar Center music store in Fountain Valley.

The burglary was first reported to University Police early last November. Later that month, a portion of the stolen property surfaced in Fountain Valley, where a Guitar Center employee identified Devore as the seller.

Devore remained an employee of PAC during the three-month investigation by University Police. According to Investigator John Bellah of the University Police, the University Police, with assistance from the Orange Police Department, executed a search warrant of Devore's residence in Orange.

Bellah said no evidence was found to link Devore to the remaining portion of stolen equipment, nor were they able to prove that he was involved in the actual burglary of PAC.

University Police are still working to locate the remaining $41,300 worth of equipment.

Bellah said that he believes more people are involved. "It would have taken two pallets to move that amount of equipment, " Bellah said. "I don't think one person could've done it on his own." PAC staff declined to comment about the issue.
