Long Beach native Jeremy "The Monster" Williams continued his heavyweight comeback by knocking out Phil Jackson in the first round during Tuesday Night Fights on USA at The Pyramid.

Williams' fight, the main event of the night, ended with a thud half-way through the first round as Jackson tumbled to the mat from a devastating left hook to the body. Jackson proved to be out of shape and little match for Williams.

Williams improved his record to 29-2 and 3-0 with three consecutive knock-outs since his return. Williams was last defeated in a fight with Henry Akinwande to determine the WBO Heavyweight Champion. He took the fight against the champ on only three days notice.

"I'm a much better fighter than I showed that night," Williams said of his loss to Akinwande.

Of the relatively uneventful six bouts on the card, the Glen "Gentleman" Johnson vs. Sam "Bam Bam" Garr fight was the most evenly matched and exciting. Both fighters entered the ring undefeated.

"Gentleman" Johnson, the fourth ranked middleweight in the WBA, was not cordial to Garr on his way to a unanimous decision after 10 rounds. Johnson bloodied Garr's nose early in the second round and kept punishing him with stiff jabs.

"He's a little fat around the belly!" Patrick Burns (Johnson's trainer) shouted out during the first round possibly to hurt Garr psychologically. Johnson is now 31-0 with 21 K.O.'s.
