Jaciento Gonzalez, a junior at Cal State Long Beach, knows about most upcoming events and planned activities for the University.

Gonzalez has been working at Planet Graphics for almost three years. Planet Graphics is the programming office for the University Student Union. They schedule campus events and activities.

Despite the construction going on during the improvement project of the Student Union, many events and activities are being planned for the spring semester.

Sylvana Zermeno, program coordinator for Planet Graphics, says the office continues to work on scheduling big movie hits for the University theater. Movie reviews are planned for March.

She also says day and evening concerts are also being scheduled. Day concerts are expected to be jazz and blues on Tuesdays noon to 1 p.m. and bands on Wednesdays noon to 1 p.m.

Planet Graphics is also working on getting guest speakers and putting together a gospel festival in February, Zermeno says. She also says radio stations Power 106 and 92.3 The Beat may visit the campus again this semester.

She says all events and activities are held on campus. They are mainly for the campus community but are open to the public. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to evening events such as concerts.

Fees are charged for some events such as movies and evening concerts. Students, faculty and staff may get discounts, Zermeno says.

Popular events and activities, such as blockbuster movie hits and evening concerts, often sell out, she says but added day concerts usually have smaller turnouts because students are in class.

One can obtain information from the University catalogue for a description of their different offices and services and organizations, such as the Associated Students, Inc., the Office of Student Life and Development, the Interfaith Center, the Disabled Student Services, the Scheduling Office and an information and ticket booth.
