49ers do well at meet

By Jill Newell
Daily Forty-Niner

Competing against schools like Purdue, Texas Tech and Washington State, the Long Beach State track and field team had a fair meet at the Stanford Invitational.

Leading the way for the 49ers was pole vaulter Borya Celentano who placed third with a jump of 17-10 1/2. The jump was good enough to qualify him for the NCAA meet.

TRACK AND FIELD

LBSU sprinter Richard Chrisensen did well in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 47.93.

The women's team also did well. Long distance runner Mary Colburn finished the 5,000 run in a time of 17:21.46.
