49ers have lifetime meet

The Irvine Invitational went well for the
Long Beach State track and field team last weekend.
Eight women and five men achieved lifetime
best scores at this meet, said LBSU track and field head coach Andy Sythe.
49er Wil Moore placed first in the 400-meter
dash with a time 48.74 seconds, qualifying him for the Big West Conference
Championships, which will be held on May 17th to the 20th.
Other 49ers qualifying for Big West are
Debbie Hughes in the 5,000 (18:24.89), Stacey Ludwig in the pole vault
(10 feet 6 3/4 inches), Milah Jordan in the triple jump (35-9 1/2), Larry
Henderson in the 400 (49.38) and Ehren Thompson in the long jump (22-3
1/2).
Henderson placed third and Johann Appell
placed fourth in the 1,500, with times of 3:53.70 and 3:54.04, respectively.
LBSU thrower Jon O'Neil placed third in
both the shot put (57-9 3/4) and the discus throw (180-11). 49er Stephanie
Sampson placed fifth in the hammer throw at 164-10, but ranked first in
the collegiate competition. This score is just 4 feet short of the school
record, keeping her at second place.
Pole vaulter Christina Lee now ranks second
on the Long Beach State All-time list with her pole vault of 12-1/2.
49erLaShawn McNairy placed fourth in the
women's 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.4. Teammate Marion Reneau placed
fifth (14.40).
Kisha Smith placed third in the 400 low
hurdles with a time of 1:04.90.
Next for the team is the Occidental Invitational,
held Saturday in Eagle Rock. |
