To accommodate the filming of Adam Sandler's
latest film at The Pyramid, 500 parking spaces in Lot 11 will be closed
to public use through Friday, Parking and Transportation Services said
Monday.
The spaces in the northeast corner of Lot
11, near Atherton Street and Palo Verde Avenue, are normally not used during
this time of the semester, said Thomas Bass, parking service spokesman.
"We are not displacing any students because
of this," Bass said. "Most of the shooting will be in the evenings between
2 and 9, so we don't expect any traffic problems."
In "Little Nicky," to be released in November,
the devil's son (Sandler) doesn't want to take over the family business.
Warner Bros. will also bus in about 3,000
extras a day, and another 500 to 700 extras will receive temporary parking
permits, Bass said.
University Police will take care of the
security arrangements, such as ensuring the safety of the film crews, actors
and general public, said Lt. Stan Skipworth, the officer in charge of security.
Police will also watch over crowds and equipment.
"It's all currently in the planning stages,"
Skipworth said. "We are working with the production company to meet not
only their needs, but the university's as well." |
