Cal State Long Beach students who attended
Spring Fling 2000 were able to have fun while participating in an event
that helped the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"The Make-A-Wish Foundation makes wishes
come true for children with life threatening illnesses," said Amanda Paul,
marketing major and the coordinator of public relations for Prospect Promotions,
an organization founded by American Marketing Association students at CSULB.
A table was setup for individuals wanting
to contribute money to the foundation.
Spring Fling 2000 was held in front of
the Student Union. Students streamed in throughout the event.
"The event is part of a General Motors
marketing internship that goes on every spring semester at CSULB," said
Jolene Quientero, a senior marketing major and vice president of social
affairs for the AMA.
The event had several small booths and
also featured a game area complete with basketball free-throw courts, a
ring-tossing tent and a balloon artist.
The balloon artist seemed to be the highlight
of the day, and a large group gathered around to watch while he made bouquets
of red, blue, green and yellow balloons.
"I got a free balloon and it's so cute,"
said Crystal Heath, a freshman kinesiology major.
Another CSULB student felt that the event
should have been held at a different location.
"They should have held it by the fountain,
only a few people pass by this area," said Liezle Magbanua, a sophomore
nursing major. |
