Millions made with dumb luck
Last week TV celebrities were in the hot seat
on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" as ABC attempted to draw a bigger viewer
share to its top-rated program during the May sweeps.
The celebrities donated their winnings
to their favorite charities, so it was a nice cause, but for a lame show.
"Millionaire" is the easiest way for a
nation of morons and idiots to live the American Dream. With a $32,000
question such as "What color are the Smurfs?" almost anyone who grew up
in the 1980s could buy a new luxury car.

When the show first aired the questions
posed little or no challenge to participants. After being canned for a
few weeks, "Millionaire" returned with tougher questions.
Rosie O'Donnell's $250,000 question last
week was: "What does the Fields Medal honor?" The correct answer: Excellence
in math.
That's not as easy as past questions asking
the name of the first U.S. president or which two colors make green, but
even a lowly journalism student like myself knows the answers to these
so-called tough questions.
Does that mean I am smarter than most Americans?
No. I think I have only average intelligence and maybe that is why I can't
stand this show.
It's not hard to realize that ABC and Regis
Philbin are dumbing down America with every episode. And, yes, that is
my final answer.
