Animation will be the word of the day in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center next weekend, with 11 full-length animated movies scheduled to be shown at the first annual Japanese animation festival.

The festival will run Friday and Saturday, and full festival passes are $ 30 for the general public and $ 25 for students and faculty. Single day passes on Friday are $ 15 for the public, $ 10 for students. On Saturday, passes are $ 25 for the public and $ 20 for students. Tickets for individual screenings are also available at $ 7  and $ 5.

The festival will start on Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m.

Three movies will be shown on Friday, including "Alexander the great" and "Wicked City."

The festival will recommence on Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m., and run the entire day until 2 a.m., with eight movies including "The Castle of Cagliaro," "Grave of the fireflies," and "Petshop of horrors."

Some movies contain heavy violence and nudity, so caution is advised for the faint of heart.
