They say Christmas is the loneliest time of the year. But for a change, I decided to take a chance.

Instead of my usual disappearance into winter break at the end of the semester, I finally asked the girl in one my classes who I had been admiring all semester out for a date.

Do I live my life on the safe side and dwindle away or do I put myself on the line and take the chance?

My palms were sweaty and I stuttered constantly, but I let all my emotions out. It was a moment I could not let slip by.

She said, "Hell, no!"

Thank God for long winter breaks.
