In a new exhibition at Cal State Long Beach's University Art Museum, 40 members of the art department offer a colorful and diverse range of artistic works.
In collaboration with the art department the UAM hosts an exhibit every two years that showcases the works of the art department faculty.

ART REVIEW

The exhibit, "Long Beach '98: Faculty Biennial," displays a wide variety of works including printmaking, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, photography and illustrations.
Although many of the works are oddly shaped and depict abstract images, all the pieces are visually stimulating.
Artist Christopher Miles' sculpture, "Wrong Place," has a disco-ball like object suspended in mid-air.
The piece by Suvan Geer, "Dry Milk Hare," portrays a lifeless rabbit dangling from the ceiling.
Since the rabbit is made out of powdered-milk plaster and paper, it provides a real life presence to a disturbing image of an innocent creature in bondage.
The exhibit provides a special opportunity to see new works by faculty and members of the art department and to witness the talents of new and visiting faculty at CSULB.
