3 Penny, a new local band, has arrived on the music scene with a pocket full of talent.

MUSIC REVIEW

The band played the "Crooked Bar," which is adjacent to the Coconut Teazer in Hollywood last weekend, as well as many other clubs throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.

Lead guitarist and vocalist Sean Henstedt sings with his soul on his sleeve.

The vocalist connects with the audience members by the sincerity and authenticity in his stage presence and lyrical content.

Dan Alveoli is a spirited bass player who plays solid and melodic lines that help make the three-piece band sound full. His chops are far beyond his boyish looks.

Beating away with aggression in the back is drummer Tom McGee.

The young musician is solid as a rock and provides a solid base for the melodic music to spring forward from.

Inspired by such great artists like Neil Peart from Rush, McGee strives to use himself as the musical instrument and not just the drums.

"Peart was an integral part of the band that added color to Rush, and that is what I want to do for 3 Penny," McGee said.

The band is intelligent, honest, catchy and stirs the spirit with social commentary.

The band is in the similar genre with bands like REM, Live and Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Classic songs such as "Review," "Apologies" and "Fall From Grace" can be found on the band's independent release.
