Women's cross country team hits finish line
The Long Beach State women's cross country team ended its season Saturday tying with Portland State for 19th place at the NCAA West Regional Championship in Fresno.
Twenty-eight teams competed for advancement to the national championships.
University of Arizona edged out Stanford by two points for the top spot, but both won the automatic bid to the nationals.
For Long Beach State, junior Bree Frigo lead the women's squad placing 64th with a time of 18-minutes, 36-seconds.
Monica MacManus timed in at 18-minutes, 55-seconds earning a 86th place finish.
Junior Kim Jackson, 49ers team captain, placed 99th with 19-minutes and 33-seconds.
Senior Carrie Appel ranked 116th with 19-minutes, 34-seconds.
Daniella Gassman rounded off the Top 5 finishers by placing 148th with a time of 20-minutes, 12-seconds.
