Legal, but not safe
An anti-abortion group, The American Coalition of Life Activists, is on a witch hunt.
It established a web site for showcasing names, addresses, pictures, social security numbers and other personal information of doctors who perform abortions.
The project is named the "Nuremberg Files" and its web site is complete with pictures of bloody body parts described as aborted fetuses.
The coalition collects dossiers "in anticipation that one day we may be able to hold them on trial for crimes against humanity."
Masking itself behind such an absurd statement makes the coalition look foolish and blatantly stupid.
If laws were established that made abortion illegal, it would be virtually impossible to hold someone accountable for an action that was legal in the past.
The FBI has already involved itself, alerting dozens of doctors of their inclusion on the list "as a courtesy, to let them know about the web site, but not to instill panic in anyone," said Special Agent Peter A. Gulotta Jr., a spokesman for the Maryland FBI office.
Publishing physicians' private information encourages intimidation, harassment
and violence. These doctors are providing services to women that are legal
and they should not have to feel like they have to wear a bulletproof vest
on their way to work.
