Healing music

Last week I became violently ill and suffered through three days. I had every symptom imaginable.
My situation improved greatly with a little help from my hypochondriac roommate and the healing power of music.
Needless to say, I was holed up in my house last week and did not emerge until Thursday, when I weakly trekked to school and caught Long Beach's Mickey's Big Mouth in front of the University Student Union.
In between my episodes of delirium, I listened to this robust seven-piece ensemble complete with a stand up bass, horns, mandolin and two eye-catching backup singers.
Mickey's Big Mouth was powerful, and with the members rocking like clockwork, created an expansive sound. The lead singer was forceful, his intense drawn-out vocals were similar to those of Layne Staley from Alice in Chains.
Keep your eyes peeled for a Mickey's Big Mouth album to be released within the next few months or go see the band at a local club. I promise it will not hurt.
