Church freaks galore

Not much can make me go off my rocker. When I get angry or upset, I take a deep breath and just walk away from the situation. However, there are people who know how to push my buttons.

Picture the following scenario: An individual is taking a hike to Upper Campus. He or she is shoving and fighting through the International Food Court to get to class and is suddenly approached by a holy person who wants to preach the gospel.

I am referring to people who solicit other students on campus to join religious groups.

Some days, an individual may not want to be pestered. One may try to politely refuse spiritual reading materials and conversions about his or her faith in God. Yet the spiritual solicitors keep on hounding and hassling individuals, making them feel guilty and questioning them on where they stand in the face of religion.

Religion should be something that a person can enjoy without pressure or force.

One thing I did not know is that it is illegal for solicitors of religious groups to be on campus if they are not enrolled students.

So next time you are approached by someone who is pressuring you to join a religious cult, ask them if he or she is a student at Cal State Long Beach. Remember the solicitor must tell the truth because the man upstairs does not like liars.
