This Halloween students can liven up their festivities by jumping on the Glamour Bus as the Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Center hosts "Glamour Invasion of the Bag Ladies!"
The Bag Ladies are a group of philanthropic drag queens raising money for the LBGLC. On Halloween night, the Bag Ladies will travel to Long Beach restaurants, bars and private parties collecting donations.
Anyone interested in having a seat on the bus needs to dress up in drag and be sponsored with a $100 donation. Participants will go to various "drag sites" and collect money from patrons. The queen with the most donations will be crowned "Miss Glamour Bag Lady of 1998."
Another event being sponsored by the LBGLC is the "West Hollywood or Bust" bus, for those interested in checking out the Hollywood Halloween scene happening along Santa Monica Boulevard.
"I've seen this fund-raiser be successful and popular in other cities and I think we're going to find a fun new opportunity for people to enjoy Halloween and be proud of the work they are doing," said Martin McCombs, Gay and Lesbian Community Center executive director.
