- This Halloween students can liven up their festivities by jumping on
the Glamour Bus as the Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Center hosts "Glamour
Invasion of the Bag Ladies!"
- The Bag Ladies are a group of philanthropic drag queens raising money
for the LBGLC. On Halloween night, the Bag Ladies will travel to Long Beach
restaurants, bars and private parties collecting donations.
- Anyone interested in having a seat on the bus needs to dress up in
drag and be sponsored with a $100 donation. Participants will go to various
"drag sites" and collect money from patrons. The queen with the
most donations will be crowned "Miss Glamour Bag Lady of 1998."
- Another event being sponsored by the LBGLC is the "West Hollywood
or Bust" bus, for those interested in checking out the Hollywood Halloween
scene happening along Santa Monica Boulevard.
- "I've seen this fund-raiser be successful and popular in other
cities and I think we're going to find a fun new opportunity for people
to enjoy Halloween and be proud of the work they are doing," said
Martin McCombs, Gay and Lesbian Community Center executive director.
