Early return

Welcome back students! We are gathered here today to try to make this semester different.

Does this sound familiar to you?

This semester I will not miss too many classes. I spent hundreds of dollars on books and I will read them, damn it. Unfortunately, good intentions don't make the grade. If they did, I'd have graduated by now.

I know at this time every semester all you hear is back to school this and back to school that, but this semester is different. Has anyone else noticed that we are here two weeks earlier? All I want to say is: This bites. Are they planning on letting us out two weeks early? I doubt it.

I can't be the only one bent out of shape about this. My only question is, why?

I guess my second question would be, whose bright idea is this anyway? I didn't vote for it, did you? No one asked me, did anyone ask you if you'd like to cut your summer break short? I didn't think so.

Is there any point bitching about it?

Here we all are, whether we like it or not. Get over it, tell yourself you're going to most of your classes and good luck reading those books. I'm still living in my "I'm going to be a good student" fantasy for the next two weeks until everything feels likes it's time to be back on campus.
