After three years of playing throughout the Hollywood club scene and for the surf and skate crowds along the California coast,

Evenrude has released its debut album "Superabsorbant."

CD REVIEW

The 12-track CD contains high-energy music that not only shows off the band's musical vision, but is also destined to make an impact in the alternative music scene.

Lyrics such as "Superduperfunkin'groovin'fuzzy-wuzzylove athon" not only display the group's ska and punk side, but also showcases the catchy lyrics of lead vocalist Chris King.

One of the better tracks on the album is "Smooth." The song has the old-school funk guitar sound that reminds one of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Evenrude plans on touring the United States this year to promote its album. Audiences can expect a high-energy performance filled with crazy stage antics.

The quartet formed in early 1996 when King, lead vocalist, left the underground music scene in Michigan to form a band in Los Angeles. He hooked up with musicians David Wadsworth, bass and vocals, Cake, guitar and vocals and Greg Priest, drums and vocals.

The artists have one goal in mind - combine heavy guitar and funky bass with hip-hop grooves.
