Dear Editor,
The Penthouse advertisement in the Daily Forty-Niner was very distasteful and did nothing but perpetuate the image of women as objects to be conquered and used by men. With the increasing incidents of violence and rape toward women on college campuses, I would have hoped that the Forty-Niner would have taken into account that first off, the greater population of students on this campus is female, and that an academic institution has a social and moral responsibility to the students and the community to promote social changes in the perceptions of women.
The Forty-Niner serves as a representative of this university.
As an alumni, recruitment and outreach worker for CSULB, I have major issues with the campus I represent using such poor judgment in an advertisement.
