In the final face-off between the Academic Senate and Associated Students President Carl Kemp, the Senate voted 15 to four to overturn Kemp's veto of college council funding.
The battle began Oct. 9 when the Senate voted to continue to allocate funds to student organizations through the college councils, despite Kemp's threat to veto, which did not materialize until the Oct. 23 meeting.
Kemp cited that there are only two strong college councils to date and that inexperience and lack of dedication might hinder the productivity and growth of college councils in the future.
At last week's meeting, several students voiced their opinions; all were in favor of the college council funding.
Kemp also made one last attempt to influence senators with weak or non-existent councils and the senators-at-large to keep their constituents in mind when the time came to vote.
Treaurer Ernesto Solis rebutted Kemp's speech by proclaiming his personal commitment to any inexperienced college council that required his assistance.
In other Senate business, Dean Johnson now fills the final remaining Senate vacancy in the College of Education.
