Cal State Long Beach women's golf was not exactly burning up the course in Seattle last week.

The 49ers shot a 1,054 for the three rounds at Salahee Country Club, and as a result, finished 11th of 12 participating teams. Stanford, led by Andrea Baxter and Mhalri McKay, won the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational with an 885. Tournament host Washington finished second, on the strength of Dodie Maxzuca's 213, which tied Baxter for first place among individual players.

The best individual performance for the 49ers was by Jennifer Reither, who finished 45th overall, 45 strokes off the lead. Tori Hughes finished 46th, Barrie Brown tied for 51st, Kalim Reyburn took 59th, and Sandra Shomura shot a 309, for a 62nd-place finish.

Maxzuca put on an impressive performance on the par 72 course, concluding with a 65 in Wednesday's third round. The 65 was the lowest score for a round by any player.

The Cardinals' winning effort was a result of having three team members among the top six individuals. JaeJean Ro's 228 was 10 and 15 strokes behind teammates McKay and Baxter respectively.

Stanford's team score of 885 was 22 strokes better than Washington. New Mexico State Shot a 939 to finish a distant third.

Joining Long Beach with team totals of over 1,000 were Wyoming (1,011) and last-place finisher Santa Clara (1,058).

The women's next tournament will begin on Oct. 28, when the 49ers travel down to Santee, Calif., to participate in the two-day San Diego State University Fall Classic.
