An Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority dance Friday night in the University Student Union was disrupted by party crashers who had to be ejected by security, seven were later arrested by Long Beach Police.

Security guards for the event, a combination of University Police officers and private security, had to remove the unruly group from the Multipurpose Rooms shortly after 10 p.m., said University Police Chief Jack Pearson.

At that time, all on-duty campus police officers were called in to escort the party crashers off campus. The suspects then threatened the officers.

"They were coming at the officers, taking fake lunges," Pearson said.

Long Beach Police Department was called in at 10:52 p.m.

Seven people were arrested near the Student Union on charges of obstruction and fighting and challenging to fight, said Long Beach Police Officer Joe Levy.

None of the suspects were Cal State Long Beach students, Levy said.
