A bevy of music and sports stars, led by Long Beach rappers Snoop
Doggy Dogg, Warren G and Coolio, will take to the basketball court in
The Pyramid Sunday for a charity basketball game to benefit
Minority AIDS Project and Challengers Boys and Girls Club.
Tickets are still available for the game, scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m.
Laker stars Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones will coach the respective
teams, while Laker forward Cedric Ceballos and Clipper point guard
and former UCLA star Pooh Richardson will suit up and play.
Other entertainers who have agreed to play in the game include
Ricky Harris, Alan Payne, Threat and Duane Martin.
The event, dubbed the Crooked "I" Celebrity Charity Basketball Game,
is being sponsored by D.J. Pooh Productions, Crooked "I" Fruit Juice
and 92.3 FM The Beat.
Admission for Sunday's basketball game is $10, $7.50 for children.
For more information, call (310) 410-1313 or (310) 985-4949.
This charity game follows Magic Johnson's Summer Pro League, held
at The Pyramid this summer, which received some publicity.
Word of Sunday's "Crooked" game, however, has failed to reach the
Cal State Long Beach community.
Pyramid Director of Operations and Ticketing Mark Edringer said that
individual event promoters, not The Pyramid, which is run by the
CSULB athletic office, have the duty of advertising events such as
Sunday's charity game.
D.J. Pooh Productions could not be reached for comment Monday
about the lack of promotion for Sunday's game.
