Students recovering from alcohol and other drug abuse addictions are wanted by Options at Cal State Long Beach. Located in the Student Health Services, the program was created to help people meet other students that want to succeed in staying sober.
"We see recovery has a part of prevention," said Option employee and CSULB student, Carmen Marquez.
Sponsored by Alcohol Anonymous, these meetings will be the first kind that this program has designed a way that students can meet and network with others in recovery.
Names and numbers are being taken now in confidentiality through the center and traded with other students who are interested in sharing their experiences and strengths, said Marquez.
Students who are currently participating in a recovery program or would like to know more information are welcome to participate.
Once there is enough people taking part in the program they will began to schedule regular meeting times. Meetings will take place in the Liberal Arts Building.
Hours for Options are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10:00 to 5:00. For more information, students may call (310) 985- 8231.
