The Associated Students Inc. is currently reviewing a proposal to replace The Deli and Scoreboard Cafe in the University Student Union with several top-name fast-food restaurants.
During an A.S. Senate meeting in October, a proposal was made before the Student Union Board of Directors to replace the existing food court with a Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds, Subway and King Taco.
"We are disappointed, it's something that was unexpected," said Naomi Rod, assistant manager of the Scoreboard. "We enjoy serving the students here. Our employees definitely take care of our customers."
A.S.I. officials declined to comment on the proposal, saying that no official plans have been made.
The proposed food court is part of a renovation project of the Student Union. Students approved a $25 fee increase last March to renovate the Student Union, which included replacing the Deli and Scoreboard with a new food court.
"We want to make sure that the Student Union is competitive in attracting a critical mass of the student population and that all diverse food needs for students are served," said Carl Kemp, A.S.I. president.
Kemp said there would not be any changes in the Student Union until the spring.
