The Cal State Long Beach Athletic Department has signed a contract with Cablevision Industries of Long Beach to produce and telecast its men's basketball games.
Five home games will be televised live this season, according to Athletic Director Dave O'Brien.
"We are delighted to be able to bring our games into the homes of our local fans on a live basis," O'Brien said.
Mike Kennedy will handle the play-by-play and will be joined by 49er All-American Ed Ratleff.
Each telecast will begin with a 30-minute pre-game show hosted by Bill Shumard, former assistant athletic director. Joining him will be Long Beach Press-Telegram sportswriter John Woolard with game reports.
Cablevision Industries goes to approximately 70,000 homes in the greater Long Beach area, including Signal Hill.
"We look forward to a long and successful relationship with our local cable system," O'Brien said.
