Simulation
Safety • Freshman
criminal justice
major Israel Ponce
participated in a
drunken driving simulation
in the University
Student Union Wednesday,
as Brian Beldyga,
a simulator operator,
told him how drinking
impairs driving skills.Edu-Tainment
Inc. put on the exhibit,
called the “Save
a Life Tour.” The
company travels from
school to school,
enlightening students
of the danger of
drinking and driving.
The tour features
the simulator and
two films throughout

- Plus-minus
grading still going nowhere
The
Associated Students Senate discussed
plus-minus grading Wednesday, but
still
hasn’t come up with a resolution.
- Students

Cal
State Long Beach students gathered

different departments and career
options at the Major Fair.
- Plant
trimmings reused in on-campus
gardening
Making
one of his many daily routes to
the green waste drop-off site,
landscape maintenance worker Ruben
Bretado is constantly on the move,
transferring one of the many truck
loads of tree trimmings, branches
and leaves that will be diverted
and reused in other parts of the
Cal State Long Beach campus.
- Most
campus cars stolen from Lot
14
Honda Accords and Jeep Wranglers
top the list of stolen cars,
while 14 cars overall have
been stolen off school property
since the beginning of 2006.
- Our
View: Drinks energizing towards
dehydration
At a time when midterms
run rampant and spring break is
just around the corner, many students
look to energy drinks to help them
stay awake to study or party. These
drinks have replaced coffee, and
boasts about how many a student
drank to stay awake can often be
heard around campus.
- Seven
months later, New Orleans still
needs help
I
am not sure if President George
W. Bush is going to have the
time today, because being president
is a busy job. But maybe he will
get a minute to reflect back
on what was, simply, a really
nice day for him seven months
ago.
- Islamic
history revealed shows different
sides of the story
A
religion should not be judged
by its followers, but by its
preaching and its values. In
today’s world, people
believe Islam preaches violence,
intolerance and hatred towards
people of other beliefs. I
am going to attempt to rebut
those misconceptions through
a historical journey of the
Islamic Empire.
- New
Mexican restaurant El Gallo Giro
a LB hit
El
Gallo Giro has been open since
Feb. 6, but the grand opening Tuesday
drew a large crowd to enjoy the
authentic Mexican cuisine, fresh
pastries, live music and free giveaways
from local radio stations. It was
all in celebration of the first
installment of the Southern California
chain deemed, “El Corazun
de la Cocina Mexicana (The Heart
of the Mexican Kitchen).”
