    The leading candidate for Cal State Long Beach’s vacant athletic director position, Bill McGillis, pulled out of negotiation talks Tuesday after being offered the position the previous week.



  • CBA dean resigns, signs onto Jesuit university
    The dean of the College of Business Administration announced his resignation Wednesday. He will take a job as the dean of the John M. and Mary Jo Boler School of Business at John Carroll University in Cleveland.



  • Burial grounds still cause debate
    For the second week in a row, the Associated Students Senate heard public comments and concerns regarding the Puvungna burial grounds Wednesday.



  • Professor to be remembered
    Dr. Xiaolan Bao, a professor of Chinese and Chinese women’s studies at Cal State Long Beach since 1993, died Jan. 22 after a long struggle with cancer.



  • Chancellor discusses new alcohol policy
    Charles B. Reed, the chancellor of the California State University system spoke with an array of CSU students in a teleconference Wednesday, addressing current issues, among them was the recently revised alcohol policy.


  • Psychology professor’s work, recognized at Lunar New Year

    “I don’t care if it’s a Monday” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the sold out crowd before jumping into a 90-minute set, on the first night of two sold-out shows at the Arrowhead Pond, in Anaheim. The Brit-rock quartet is on the second leg of their Twisted Logic Tour and show no sign of slowing down.

  • L.A. quarterback’s career culminates in hall of fame
    This weekend marked an eccentric event for football that continued to set a new milestone for quarterbacks. Recently 30-plus sports writers voted and ultimately enshrined Henry Warren Moon in the Football Hall of Fame as the first black quarterback.
