News

  • Beach Hillel protests MSA speaker
Some students stopped and listened, with their attention focused on the black-cloaked figure before them. They took seats on the ground or on chairs and bore signs that read, “The truth is on the side of the oppressed.” Some students protested, holding the Israeli flag and signs that read, “Teach Love, Not Hate” and “Your student fees at work.” Whatever the response, last Thursday’s Muslim Student Association (MSA)-sponsored speaker Amir Abdel Malik Ali, provoked students, angering some and interesting others.

  • Senator organizes demonstration against Outpost
Students gathered outside the Outpost Grill to protest high prices and poor food quality Thursday during the “Outpost Sack Lunch Stand-In,” which was organized by Sen. Clint Silvestre, College of Engineering.

  • Job fair brings law enforcement to campus

Opinion

Diversions

  • Exene moves past X to the Original Sinners
She probably wouldn’t win “American Idol,” but her loud, fierce voice and lyrically charged music has made Exene Cervenka an idol of Los Angeles’ punk-rock scene.

Sports

  • Lakers finish behind Clippers yet again
Hell has frozen over, the sky has fallen and Chick Hearn, God rest his purple-and-gold-loving soul, is rolling over in his grave. Ladies and gentlemen, the Los Angeles Lakers have been bested in the playoffs, and as of now the Los Angeles Clippers remain.
