  • MSA hosts human rights awareness forum
Obi Adisa Asad, senior English major, read the defined Zionism as “an organized movement of world Jewry that arose in Europe in the late 19th century with the aim of reconstituting a Jewish state in Palestine,” during the Evening of Human Rights Awareness put on by the Muslim Student Association Wednesday at the Southwest Terrace.

Opinion

  • Our View: Outpost sack-lunch stand-in unnecessary
With all of the boycotts going on, it seems people are just jumping onto the “boycott bandwagon,” so they can feel involved.

  • Associated student senate? More like stupid senate
We have a bureaucracy training course here at Cal State Long Beach. It is called the Associated Students Senate. In this small class of 20 students all the skills and knowledge one would need to thrive in a political establishment are on display for all to see. They are truly masters of their art and are well on their way to becoming exceptionally mediocre players in the game we call the U.S. government.

  • Human rights issues in Uganda worth attention
I am your typical student. I go to school and have a part-time job. I love shopping, partying, hanging out with friends, watching “Sex and the City” and basically having the college life. I am not really informed on anything going on in the world; the only news I watch is Entertainment Tonight. I admit I am in my own world and I do not really care to hear about current events relating to politics or war.

  • Religious hate speech against religion’s purpose, inaccurate
Fox News recently showed a clip featuring a woman named Shirley Phelps Roper, a member of Westborough Baptist Church in Iowa. That doesn’t really seem like a big deal, except for the fact she thinks Sept. 11 and the Holocaust were blessings from God. She said all of this like a true sociopath: With a sick and creepy smile on her face.

  • 49er women’s tennis win 2006 Big West Title
Three times is the charm for the women’s tennis team who won the 2006 Big West Championship. Long Beach State is ranked No. 27 and claimed its third consecutive title, fourth overall, at the 2006 Big West Conference Tennis Championships at Indian Wells Tennis Gardens April 30.
