Pollock signs destroyed, stolen

Associated Students Inc. President Jamie Pollock suffered a minor setback in her campaign for reelection Wednesday when she received notice her campaign posters, posted all over the CSULB campus, were destroyed and in some cases stolen, as pictured above.

Pollock said she and her campaign members posted 18 signs Tuesday night, but by Wednesday morning only three remained standing, while the rest were stolen or torn to pieces.

“ I can’t believe someone would do this but I’m glad someone liked my posters enough to take them home,” she said.

“ Hopefully someone has my poster in their room.”

Pollock does not believe other candidates are to blame, mainly because prior to engaging in any campaigning, candidates are asked to sign documents stating they will not be part of malicious campaigning.

“ I think it’s sad but there is nothing I can do,” said Elections Commissioner Courtney Ronald who is responsible for actions taken against candidates and those involved in malicious campaigning.

Ronald said members are not supposed to deface, remove or destroy the poster of other candidates but no action has been taken because no evidence was found. Ronald also said if the activity kept up, an investigation would take place where a subcommittee hearing would held.

A police report was not filed and those at fault are still at large.

Elections run from March 27 to 29.
