Toby Keith’s Big Throwdown Tour 2 lived up to its name: big. During the show at the Hyundai Pavillion last Saturday, there were pyrotechnics, numerous No. 1 hits and a huge crowd left begging for more.

Opening for the show was Shooter Jennings and Lee Ann Womack. Keith’s set opened with a video of the star running from aliens seeking his autograph not to mention a plug for Ford (the tour sponsor). He then went into an array of hits, though he didn’t include too much from his new album, “Honkytonk University.”
The show remained highly energetic until he slowed things down with his partner in crime, Scotty Emerick, singing the bus songs, “Weed with Willie, the Taliban Song,” and an all new song about a guy who forgets his wife’s anniversary again and she’s not going to give in to his late advances.

As part of the show’s encore, Keith passionately sang “American Soldier” as the crowd went crazy. Keith is a strong supporter of U.S. troops and many come out to support him as well when he puts on a show.

It was a show full of Keith’s hits and just what the crowd was craving as many sang along. All in all, it was a typical Toby Keith show.
