to the Editor
Why do we label the media liberal or conservative
when it reports the death and violence that
happens everyday?
Gerry
Wachovsky spouts in the Feb. 22 issue of
the Online Forty-Niner that he respects
the work police officers do in regards to
the death of a 13-year-old boy named Devin
Brown. I'm sorry if it is hard to respect
police officers if I've never heard of a
cop shooting during a car chase on television
when a Caucasian male is driving 90 mph
and there are reports he's kidnapped a child.
Police
tend to hold their fire and not shoot until
they know if he is armed and dangerous or
not. There is no rush to shoot.
I
will admit that Devin Brown should not have
taken part in the joy ride in the stolen
car with his friend, his parents should
have been responsible, and should be charged
with some kind of child endangerment law.
Yet, the cop(s) could obviously look into
the car and see the people driving to notice
a gun wasn't being pointed at them. Don't
police still use other methods rather than
guns to help stop a car chase? And I'm sorry
to say 10 shots from a gun is a lot when
shooting at people who are not shooting
back.
Whatever
happened to shooting the tires of the car
instead? It's not like people are randomly
harassing or shooting at the police for
fun.
You
should show more respect and research within
your articles and opinion pieces. None of
the quotes you pulled mention race either.
They all mentioned how sad it was that a
young boy died because the LAPD doesn't
know how not to use force to solve a problem.
None of the people you quoted cried victim
or racism, they all said, again, how sad
it was for someone to die.
All
I ever read from your blubbering is how
you hate the liberal media.
Well,
no one likes what you have to say either.
Let's try not to get caught up in what you
think all the time and try being an actual
journalist for once. State the facts or
find another profession.
