Daily
Forty-Niner rounds up the year
After an eventful year the Daily Forty-Niner
is now closing the spring semester of 2005.
When thinking about what to do with our
finals issue, we decided to include the
biggest news from the 2004-05 year.
The
front page displays photos of some of the
biggest news events on campus, from national
elections on campus to The Walter Pyramid's
10th anniversary. The photos in clockwise
order were taken by Tracey Roman, Jon Cook,
Tracey Roman, Yulian Danusastro, Jon Cook
and Tracey Roman.
In
the news section you can see the articles
about one of the biggest changes Cal State
Long Beach has seen in years, the plans
that President Robert C. Maxson has after
leaving CSULB. The section also includes
a round up of the spring Associated Student
elections, with the lead from each story
the Daily Forty-Niner had on the issue.
The
opinion section features the Our View we
wrote about the death of Hunter S. Thompson,
gonzo journalist. The page also includes
one of Gerry Wachovsky's weekly columns
and a heavily debated editorial by Matt
Logan about "anti-racism."
Diversions
includes the review of the monumental "Grand
Theft Auto San Andreas" video game
and a feature on the Long Beach Clothing
Company.
Finishing
up the paper is the sports section with
tennis and basketball stories, along with
regular columnist Patrick Hodgson's last
column for the semester.
We
hope that you all enjoy this issue, if for
nothing less, helping you to reminisce about
the 2004-05 school year here at CSULB. For
the full-length articles of anything in
this issue, as well as other issues, visit
our Web site's archive section at: http://www.csulb.edu/~d49er/archives/.
