Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity took home the trophy, the money and bragging rights at the 15th annual Cal State Long Beach Step Show in The Walter Pyramid Saturday afternoon.

The Stomping on the Yard National Step Tour made its stop in Long Beach over the weekend. With the help of the U.S. Army and Vibe magazine, the National Pan Hellenic Council of CSULB hosted the show, titled "The Legacy Continues." Seven teams competed and entertained an audience of 2,500 in a celebration of leadership, scholarship and showmanship. The teams were judged on theme, length of time in performance and creativity as each skillfully executed their routine.

The points were close but in the end the Southern California All Star team of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity won the Gold Step Shoe trophy and a $2,000 prize presented by the U.S. Army.

This is the first year the Southern California All Star team won the Long Beach step show. Greg McCoy, a member of the Kappa team was excited about the win.

"This is the 10th time we’ve won a step show with the same step. We won at USC, Arizona, Vegas, and now we can add Long Beach to the list. We messed up and still came out on top."

Zeta Phi Beta sorority also won that afternoon. They were the only team to compete in the sorority division, but still impressed the judges with their creativity and originality.
