Beach Pride Poolside

Splash • Top, Special Events Commissioner Nik Ocello has fun tossing Cristine Hirschler in the University Student Union (USU) pool.

Bottom, Mikey Sabs, lead singer of LimitPoint, performs at the biannual Beach Pride Poolside event, hosted by Associated Students, Inc., Tuesday at the USU Pool. The event, free for all students wearing CSULB paraphernalia, also featured a live performance from “The Wallabards,” a barbeque and a belly flop contest.

“Beach Pride Poolside started as a grand opening for the Beach Pride Center,” said Sally Bulquerin, ASI administrator. It has been a hit ever since but the best thing about it is that it demonstrates school spirit, she said.

The 40-some students at the event showed school spirit by dancing and jumping in the pool with their bathing suits in search for CSULB paraphernalia, thrown into the pool by ASI members.
Zaira Tinoco, ASI treasurer, said students should look out for other giveaway promotions.

Mario Burciaga contributed to this report.
