Dominating the game on both sides of the field, Long Beach State cruised to a 3-0 victory over UC Davis Friday afternoon at the George Allen Field.

The victory over the Aggies gives LBSU its 12th victory, tying a school record for wins.  LBSU was too strong for UC Davis, out-shooting them 16-12 in the contest.

Freshman Kim Silos got the 49ers on the scoreboard when she kicked the ball into the net from 18 yards out to give LBSU a 1-0 lead in the game’s eighth minute.  Freshman Sahar Haghdan was credited with the assist.

Haghdan had a huge game, ending with two goals and adding two assists.  Silos found an open Haghdan in front of the net. Haghdan made a skillful move to beat goalkeeper Krystyn Lizak of UC Davis.  Haghdan kicked it into an empty net to give the 49ers a 2-0 advantage.

In the 21st minute, UC Davis was awarded a penalty kick. With the crowd cheering wildly, goalkeeper Liz Ramos guessed correctly and made an easy save to keep the score 2-0.

“ I read it,” Ramos said. “When she took her first step I knew she was going to the right.

“ That was big, “ said Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia. “She’s come a long way.

Ramos had a career-best five saves and posted another shutout, her seventh of the season.  The shutout brings her season total to nine, a school record.

Off a corner kick in the 75th minute, freshman Haley Bolt hit a header to Haghdan who scored her second goal of the day to give LBSU a commanding 3-0 lead.

LBSU has been particularly tough at home.

“ We don’t want to lose on our home field,” Haghdan said. “We want our winning streak to go on.  We can’t lose at home, it’s too important to us.

The victory gives LBSU a perfect 9-0 record at home.  Soccer America has LBSU ranked No. 25 in the nation.  It marks the first time in school history the team has been nationally ranked.

The Big West Tournament starts the first weekend of November.  The top four teams will qualify for the tournament and LBSU hopes to be one of the four.   “That was our main goal in the beginning of the year,” Ingrassia said. “Every game from here on out is important.  We will take it one game at a time.”
