Despite poor weather conditions, Long Beach State women’s soccer beat the Idaho Vandals 2-0 Tuesday. The 49ers are nationally ranked, at the No. 25 spot, for the first time in school history.

Kim Silos scored LBSU’s two goals, which put Silos at nine for the season. The goals rank her among LBSU’s best players.

“ [Silos] has been doing great,” Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia said. “She has really been able to improve on her physical endurance and that has helped her.”

LBSU scored their first goal in the 32nd minute and their second in the 56th minute. 49er Dana Farquhar had a breakaway, but Vandals goalie
Lindsay Smith stopped one shot and the next one flew over the net.

Farquahar was placed on Soccer America and Soccerbuzz.com’s National Teams of the Week. Both Farquahar and Silos have earned Big West Player of the Week awards this season also.

The win against Idaho put LBSU 11-3-1 and dropped Idaho to 2-14-0, adding to their 12th straight loss. LBSU is perfect playing at home this season, 7-0-0.

LBSU’s Hayley Bolt picked up her fourth game-winning assist of the season.

Bolt, a freshman, is the player to watch because she is in the running for the Big West Player of the Year. She has seven goals, 20 points and seven assists.

Freshman goalie Liz Ramos has been outstanding this season for LBSU and leads the Big West with a 0.6 goals- against average.
LBSU dominated the Vandals and ended up outshooting them, 18-to-9.

The 49ers play Oct. 21 against UC Davis at George Allen Field. They will travel to UC Irvine for a game Sunday.
Ingrassisa feels UC Davis is a tough team to beat and the girls will have to play aggressively.

“ It’s going to be a tough match,” he said. “Hopefully we will have our supportive crowd and hopefully we can get another victory.”
