New condoms arouse student curiosity

The vibrating condom, a new product from TouchMe USA, is giving new meaning to safe sex on college campuses across the nation with its extra sensation.

The “Safe Sex Is Fun” campaign featuring the vibrating condom is designed to encourage sexual health while promoting the new product.

The condom comes in a package with a traditional condom and a vibrating ring inside. The ring runs on a built-in micro battery that lasts for 20 minutes.

“ It’s great for women because sex would be more effective for women who wouldn’t be so experienced,” said Rachel Davis, TouchMe USA’s marketing director.

Because many women complain of discomfort during intercourse when using the traditional condom, the idea is the vibrating condom will enhance pleasure for both women and men, making safe sex more enjoyable.

“ Our goal is to reduce the failure rate of condoms by a small percentage,” said Davis.
The condom provides extra protection because of the ring. The condom is put on first and then the ring slides over the condom. The ring helps keep the condom on.

The extra kick to this new invention is it can be used without a partner with the same effects. The ring fits on women’s fingers, and it helps men sustain longer erections. It can be used in the shower and is vacuum-sealed to ensure cleanliness.

The vibrating condom was introduced in March 2005 and won the Invention of the Year award in 2003. TouchMe USA has kicked off its “Safe Sex Is Fun” campaign starting with the University of Florida. The goal is to reach college campuses across the nation, raising sexual health awareness while promoting this product.

“ Safe sex is promoted on campus,” Davis said. “The students promoting the product make their own hours and get marketing experience, and the company has a chance to sell and promote the product.”

The condom brings extra sensation to both parties and is a slightly more secure contraceptive.

“ Safe Sex Is Fun” sales representatives are working their way through 10 campuses per week, and will soon reach Cal State Long Beach.

Davis is also hoping to contact fraternities and sororities to have them sell the vibrating condom at events.

The condom can be found online at www.TouchMeUSA.com, and can be purchased for $5.95 a package. When the campaign comes to CSULB campus, the representatives will be selling them for $5.
