Aquarium of the Pacific September events
• Sept. 14. Architectural Lecture Series: Rick Meghiddo of the American Institute of Architects will hold a panel discussion about the effects of architecture on shaping urban environments. Guests can learn about the impact architecture has on urban society as well as the fundamentals for good design. The panel will also discuss the possible architectural future for Long Beach. Panelists will include Daniel Iacofano, Brenda Levine and Rick Meghiddo.

• Sept. 24-25. Moompetam: A Gathering of the Sea Water People: A Native American festival featuring music and traditional entertainment from local coastal and island indigenous cultures, along with arts and crafts for familes to enjoy. There will also be a special display of plant life that has been kept alive by the indigenous cultures as well as a “tomol,” a traditional watercraft from the cultures native to the Santa Barbara Channel region. Guests may attend the festival for the regular cost of aquarium admission.

• Sept. 28. Alan Burdick, author of “Out of Eden: An Odyssey of Ecological Invasion,” will discuss his book about various animals and plants surviving in places where nature didn’t originally intend them to live. The discussion will touch on the impact of alien species on the environment and the existing plant and animal life once these species are introduced.

Admission to the Aquarium of the Pacific is $18.95 for adults and $16.95 for children ages 3-11. The cost to attend lectures is $7, $4 for non-members. More information on these events, as well as general information for the aquarium is available at www.aquariumofpacific.org.
