Being honest

Re Our View, March 9:
"Stewart's lying backfires" was right on target. The importance of honesty in our American culture has been greatly damaged and erodes further with each passing generation. This article reinforces my hope that somebody feels the importance of this fact. So many things are wrong with society today and many things appear to have a greater priority. But this is an issue we can take back and take control of replacing in our culture. Each and every one of us can by example show others and the next generation the value honesty has in this society. One additional example I may add would be what the troubled Pete Rose, a baseball hall of fame wannabe, has experienced because he just couldn't come clean. Collectively we need to feel comfortable in admitting a mistake, biting the bullet, taking responsibility and moving on. Have the faith that this society is by nature a forgiving one and unless personally injured can and will allow the process of correction and resolution to occur with the passage of time. It comes down to having faith in yourself and your neighbors to do the right thing.
