News

  • Professor reveals Rwanda atrocities
Cal State Long Beach English professor Nancy Sheley presented an examination of post-genocide Rwanda on Nov. 9 in the multicultural building.
  • CSULB offers many study abroad opportunities
There is no doubt that college is an enriching and rewarding experience, but the experience can be made even richer by studying abroad. Study abroad offers students the opportunity to not only learn about different cultures, but to experience them first hand.

Opinion

  • Our View: No amendment for Schwarzenegger
Should Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger be allowed to run for president of the United States? Many Californians support Schwarzenegger in his current position, but do not support the amendment of the U.S. Constitution to allow for foreigners as commander-in-chief and the head of our country.
  • Arafat and beyond: the attainment of peace
A toast to the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat! He was a man whose life has been a litany of obstructionism and violence, and who has stayed alive these past few years purely out of spite and anti-Semitism.
  • Unjust Guantanamo trials signal USA downfall
Just when I think that President George W.Bush and his administration couldn't make America look worse in the eyes the rest of the world, they seem to find a way to do just that.

Diversions

  • Feminist, lesbian rock hits a high-note with Le Tigre
Of all the giant bands and perpetually hyped artists of last summer's Coachella 2004, one band stood out over the long, long desert weekend. Le Tigre happened to be the last band of the weekend, going on at 11 p.m. Sunday, but frankly they stole the whole damn show.
  • Keepin' it kosher
With the holidays quickly approaching, it is important not only to remember Santa and his reindeer, but also not to forget those who brought us the dreidel and yarmulkes, and a lot of holidays away from school.

Sports

  • Cross country season ends
The cross country season came to an end for Long Beach State on Saturday, but the season proved to be a great first step in the right direction for the future of the program.
