• African American masters make impression on Long Beach
  Vibrantly painted figures are stroked across canvas, historic past times are depicted in film and somber faces are masked in sculpture throughout the African American Masters exhibition at the Long Beach Museum of Art.

• Rodney still looking for respect from beyond
  America took a shot to the funny bone Tuesday. The blow came when comedian/actor Rodney Dangerfield succumbed to a small stroke after a heart valve operation and developed infectious and abdominal complications.

• Nuggets in the Rough: women's cross country
  The Nugget in the Rough award usually goes to the most outstanding athlete of the week, but this week since the women's cross country team had such a huge accomplishment they are our Nuggets in the Rough.

• Bouffler upsets No. 55 Anderson
  Senior Nicole Bouffler swung into action at the Rivera Tennis Club at Pacific Palisades, Tuesday and wound up splitting her season-opener.

• ‘Beach Bash' to involve students, athletes
  Long Beach State will be holding its fifth annual kick-off event, "Beach Bash" on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rugby Field.
