The crowd roared for the last two weekends as the Big Throwdown Tour rocked the West Coast. Toby Keith was in town and the fans could not be more fired up. The concert at the Staples Center at the end of August wasn't your average concert just as Keith is not your average country singer.

This "say it like it is" country boy gave his fans a dose of what they were waiting for.

Keith, who was recently named the Academy of Country Music's Entertainer of the Year, put on a concert like no other. The curtain went up, fireworks went off, Keith appeared, and the show went on in full force. The stage was set up like an average bar equipped with numerous liquor bottles, flashy neon signs and the cleanest urinals you'll ever see. The music was loud and the songs were of drinking, women and trips to Mexico.

The surprise treat of the night was when legends Merle Haggard and Jerry Lee Lewis joined the show. Merle performed two of his most popular songs, "Ramblin' Fever" and "Mama Tried," while Jerry Lee Lewis enticed the crowd with "Great Balls Of Fire." It was a moment not to be missed.

Toby unleashed his patriotism with "American Soldier," a song he sang with unrestrained passion. As the crowd sang at the top of their lungs, some with tears in their eyes, it gave me chills. He then topped off the night with his controversial hit, "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue." The enthused crowd was on its feet with some waving American flags. During the celebration fireworks went off, with streamers shooting out and raining down on the crowd. It was the perfect end to a thrilling night.

In comparison to previous Keith tours, this concert was packed with high energy from beginning to end. The crowd seemed to know every word to every song and let the people around them know it, providing a unique brand of surround sound. For all country fans, Toby Keith is definitely one to see when he makes his way back to the West Coast.
