a toon hoot

If
you've been searching for a show that
has familiar animated characters letting
loose and acting like the cast of "The
Real World" and "Girls Gone
Wild" combined, then "Drawn
Together" is the show for you.
Comedy
Central's newest show is television's
first animated reality series featuring
eight cartoon characters who look suspiciously
like cartoon characters that we have seen
somewhere else before.
Xandir
looks like a typical video game warrior
blended with a little West Hollywood attitude
and is constantly mentioning "his
never ending quest to save his girlfriend."
He pulls out a flute, plays a melody and
is whisked away in a tornado to save his
"girlfriend." With funny little
quotes such as "The tension was so
thick that you couldn't even cut it with
a plus six sword," Xandir is a character
that video gamers can appreciate.
The
first episode is full of racial stereotypes
and visual sexual innuendos that try to
make up for the lack of real plot or story
line. With a character like Foxxy Love,
a black sexpot who looks a lot like Valerie
from "Josie and the Pussycats,"
if she was a little more ghetto and bi-sexual,
you can pretty much guess what is going
to happen next.
The
premiere covers everything from Clara,
a Disney-like princess, and Foxxy Love
making out in a hot tub (twice) to a Betty
Boop imposter named Toot Braunstein cutting
herself because she's fat and psychotic.
The
characters prove to be just as disturbed
and depraved as reality show characters.
With side interviews that allow the housemates
to voice their opinions, every reality
show cliché is used to get laughs.
Ling
Ling is a Pikachu doppelganger, with special
electric powers and an attitude to match.
The
other three characters are Spanky Ham,
a foul-mouthed pig, Wooldoor Sockbat,
a parody of SpongeBob SquarePants, and
Captain Hero, a Superman-like character
who's constantly groping the women of
the house.
"Drawn
Together" tries to appeal to the
male audience while at the same time disgusting
them. Although Foxxy Love is shown in
tight shorts and no bra with her g-string
hanging out, in contrast Toot is shown
with cellulite, cuts on her legs, a mustache
and her underwear is visible as well,
which is a very disturbing thing.
The
first episode will premiere Oct. 27 at
10:30 p.m.
