Last
Saturday a 22-year-old female was jogging
at night in Lot 17 when a man wearing a
ski mask grabbed her, pulled her towards
him and tore her shirt sleeve. The suspect,
said to be about 25 to 30 years old, then
fled in a "dark colored vehicle, possibly
a Toyota," CSULB University Police
Captain Stan Skipworth said.
A second kidnapping attempt occurred Tuesday
in Lot 15 when a man accosted a 15-year-old
female and tried to pull her into his car.
The victim fought him off, striking him
several times with her CD bag, until the
suspect fled. The suspect is described as
a white male wearing a black suit, white
shirt and red tie. His vehicle was described
as a silver Nissan Altima, late '90s model,
with Mardi Gras beads hanging from the rear-view
mirror.
While
officials said the two cases may be related,
and are being investigated as such, the
police said they have no definite indication
that one person is responsible for both
kidnapping attempts.
"We
don't have anything as far as something
tangible," says Detective Rick Goodwin
of evidence connecting the two incidents.
"But, if I were a betting man, I'd
bet that the persons were one and the same."
The University Police are asking anyone
with more information concerning this case
to contact either Detective Goodwin, or
the on-duty watch commander at (562) 985-4101.
